Home sweet home

Anon writes: A group of friends and I have decided that when the ban comes into force we will meet in each others homes instead of going to pubs or restaurants. The host will provide refreshments on a rotatioal basis and we will take our own booze. It will be hard luck on the publicans but we will continue to enjoy each others company in a haze of smoke.

Good for you and your group of friends. I accept that it will be hard on some publicans, having read the other comments. I also appreciate that many are trying their best to do something positive on the smokers behalf. Unfortunately, in every war there are casualties and fatalities and in this instance it is bound to be the pubs and clubs.

If we, the smoking public, do not make a stand and stay away from all the public places we possibly can to make our point then more and more of our civil liberties and rights as human beings will be stolen from us. The only possible good thing about this is it will finally hit the vitriolic antis who are gloating over their apparent victory now.

So come on all you smokers who enjoy your sociable get togethers, stay out of the pubs, etc and organise your own get togethers. I have not been to the cinema or theatre since they were made no smoking, but I still enjoy watching films at home and I save a bundle. Shame that this has caused the prices to go up so much for those that want to go.
